2. I Do - possível 2º single, muita gente já ouviu tb. Uma músic mid-tempo, uma coisa meio Standing Still.
3. Love Is A Garden - Música escrita há uns 3 anos atrás com uma grande compositora country americana, Shaye Smith. Jewel cantou recentemente em uma rádio uma versão acústica (tem no Youtube). Parece uma música animada, mas acústica não dá pra saber como vai ficar.
4. Rosey & Mick - Sim, ela mesma! Velha de guerra!
5. Anyone But You - Música nova, escrita com Wynn Varble. Nunca ouvi.
6. Thump Thump - música nova, declaração de amor pro Ty. Todo mundo já deve ter ouvido tb.
7. Two Become One - aqui mora uma dúvida... Há um tempo, houve um rumor de que Jewel teria falado em um show que iria por a 2 Become 1 (do 0304) no CD country, mas depois isso morreu e ninguém confirmou nada. Mas agora parece que era isso mesmo. Bem, eu preferiria outra música não lançada ainda, tipo Racecar driver ou Carnivore, mas parece que as músicas do 0304 vão continuar brotando em todos os CDs pelo resto dos tempos :)
8. ’Til It Feels Like Cheating - música nova, nunca ouvi nada sobre ela.
9. Everything Reminds Me Of You - muitos já conhecem, era cantando com o Joe Firstman quando ele abriu os shows da Jewel. Aqui, a Jewel está sozinha e a música é mais animada do que eu esperava.
10. Loved By You (Cowboy Waltz) - essa é velha de guerra também mas mudou de nome. Se chamava Don't Wanna Be Loved By Anybody But You.
11. Perfectly Clear - Outra velha de guerra, conhecida como Studies In Love #12.

Uma coisa que me chamou atenção é que parece que só há músicas românticas ou sobre amor ou relacionamentos (Stronger Woman não é romântica, por exemplo, muito menos a Rosey and Mick). Nada político ou existencial aparentemente. Quem sabe no próximo??

Agora é ir juntando dinheiro pq vai ter que comprar importado, com certeza :)

Então, Stronger Woman está sendo muito bem recebida pelas rádios country americanas e o CD, Perfectly Clear, deve estar chegando às lojas de lá no dia 3 de Junho (sim, um tanto longe, mas deve fazer sentido pra eles).

Saiu uma notinha na internet dizendo que o novo álbum da Jewel se chamará "My Country" e que será lançado em março de 2008!

E no seu Myspace (www.myspace.com/jewel) ela publicou mais um blog falando que "Cowboy Waltz" também estará no novo CD! Essa música também é conhecida como "Angel" ou "Sweet Sweet Angel" e é uma das favoritas dos fãs! Do novo CD ela cita ainda "I Do" e "Thump Thump", músicas essas que ela já vem cantando em seus shows.

Jewel assina com nova gravadora!

Depois de ter deixado a Atlantic Records e ter produzido seu CD country junto com o John Rich, da banda country americana Big & Rich, a Jewel finalmente assinou com uma gravadora para ter seu CD, que já está pronto, lançado. Valory Music Company é uma recém inaugurada gravadora do mesmo presidente da também recente Big Machine, gravadora de nomes como Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood e Garth Brooks. O CD da Jewel está previsto para ser lançado na primavera americana, ou seja, no outono do Brasil. O 1º single já deve estar saindo no início do ano!

Finalmente, novidades!!! A Jewel postou um novo blog na sua página do Myspace !

Vou apenas resumir os dados mais importantes:

** o novo CD já está pronto, só falta mixar
** ela está pensando em entitulá-lo "Home" ("Lar"), pois esse CD fala muito do Alaska, do crescimento dela e das suas influências country.
** o CD foi todo gravado em Nashville, onde ela gravou também o Pieces of You e o This Way.
** quem está produzindo o CD é o John Rich, do duo country Big & Rich
** ela está procurando uma gravadora para lançar o CD, pois ela ainda acha que a rádio é uma boa maneira de se divulgar um CD e a gravadora ainda é a melhor opção para se lançar uma música
** ela bancou toda a produção do CD
** duas músicas antigas devem entrar no CD: Rosey and Mick e Perfectly Clear (provavelmente mais conhecida como Studies in Love #12)
** e vai ter um pouco de yodel também!

Well, im on another airplane...going from DFW to NYC...headed to the premier of "We Own The Night"....why, u ask? Am i in the film or associated with it in ANY way? The answer would be no....i just happen to be in town for a show, and thought getting gussied up and seeing a flick might be fun....Ty is not so sure, but hes coming anyway....the show im in NYC for, and performing in, is on Wed night...it is a "guitar pull" and raising money for the country music hall of fame....what is a Guitar Pull u ask? It is when 4 or 5 artists sit in a row or semi circle on stage and také turns playing songs and telling stories...its fun...nothing planned, just impromptu- right up my proverbial alley....the other artists on the bill r Trisha Yearwood, John Rich (of Big and Rich- ive been producing my next album with him....hes very talented) Vince Gill and Patty Griffin...(some of u may remember patty from my Jewelstock show AGES ago....she came out and played, much to everyones delight- a strong-ass singer! And a strong ass writer...her cd's r good, and she also gets her songs covered by other artists...) guest artists will be Shawn Colvin and 'newcomer' Taylor Swift (u guys should check her out- shes great and i hear shes quite popular on myspace...) Anyway, im pretty excited to hear all these folks sing...

....What else.....oh! my new cd is done...just gotta mix it...and name it...i SUCK SUCK SUCK at naming cd's....always have been! It is always the last thing to come to me- (usually under the pressure of many threats and deadlines)....i dont know what the heck to call it....i was thinking of calling it "Home," cause the songs are about how i grew up in alaska, and the kind of music i grew up on like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard, and also about where my home is now.....i dunno....i had so much fun making this one- i made it on my own (no label) just me and John goofing off...i payed for the whole thing, so i got to do whatever the heck i like (which ive always been able to do, but somehow not having a label has made it fun again). I have been hunting for labels in nashville- did i mention i LOVE nashville? I really could live there in a heartbeat...my kind of people...lots of writers...lots of live music and me and my friends get up and jam with local bands...lots of songwriters showcases...everyone is professional and friendly....and talented, so no need for all the posing and posturing....i hate that stuff....this will make at least the 3rd record ive made there....i cant wait for u guys to hear what ive been writing....maybe i will sneak u all some acoustic versions of songs- that way u can pass em around without it hurting anything! I was torn for a while about whether to even use a label again- but i still think radio is a good way to get records heard, and labels r still good at getting songs played at radio (especially in the country market) so i think i will také another stab at it....i feel so at home in the 'country format' its not really a change for me...i get to do stuff ive written my whole life- and its about the last place u can be a story teller...some of my favorite songs ive written over the years, like "Rosey and Mick" and "Perfectly Clear" will finally make a cd....and- there will even be a bit of yodeling...

Ok, the choice for food is chicken salad or pizza....crap!
So, what r u guys up to? Hows everyone doing? Hows work...family....kids? Wait- who r we liking in the presidential race? Who is ur favorite republican and your favorite democrat? Who do u guys believe? I like to try to pick one candidate from each party that i can believe at least somewhat- i always find myself wishing i could Frankenstein several candidates from several parties together to make one perfect leader....oh well...

A Jewel vai fazer uma pequena aparição no filme Walk Hard, que sai nos EUA no dia 21 de dezembro. O filme é uma zoação com o Walk The Line (Johnny & June). A Jewel canta a música tema junto com Lyle Lovett e Jackson Browne. No trailer dá para se ver por 1 segundinho os três cantando, embora não se ouça a voz deles.

Férias em Bahamas

A Jewel tirou umas férias nesse verão americano (inverno aqui) e foi pras Bahamas! E decidiu compartilhar com o mundo algumas fotos:

O Ty estava precisando mesmo pegar um sol... E o George, o cachorrinho, é muito bonitinho mesmo, hehe.

A Jewel também escreveu uma cartinha pros fãs que não traz muitas novidades mas vou colocar aqui em baixo:

Hey guys, I just wanted to send out a bulletin to say that I hope everyone's summer is going well. Ty and I have been having a good time. We have been spending some time on the ranch, soaking up the sun and taking care of our home. We also went on our first vacation in four years to the Bahamas. We stayed at the amazing Cove at Atlantis and had quite a time at Aura nightclub ***check out the pictures on my blog -- straight from my digital camera.

It hasn't been all play, though. I have been traveling to Nashville to work on my country album, which I am soo excited to finish -hopefully in the next few months. I have been writing country songs since I was 16, so I think it's time I shared some of my favorites with you all!!

Besides the album, we also had a TV show being filmed down here on the ranch. It's called, (none other than), "Ty Murray's Celebrity Bullriding Challenge" -- that is now airing on CMT. It's a great show and we have gotten a lot of great feedback on it, so if you haven't checked it out yet, tune in on Friday nights at 9 pm on CMT. You'll see me as well as some of Hollywood's notorious celebrities, a few very skilled athletes, cowboys, mean bulls and a ton of good times.

I guess that's it for now. Thanks for supporting me and I look forward to getting back out on the road to play some new songs for you. I do have some October and November dates coming up - check out the dates and come join me!

Does Anyone Believe In Love

Existe uma pessoa chamada Alan, mais conhecido como Mr.BB, que é o arquivista da Jewel. Ele tem, a princípio, toda e qualquer gravação da Jewel, todos os shows, apresentações, demos, tudo. E de vez em quando ele publica alguma raridade no site oficial dela, na seção Library. Semana retrasada eu pedi que ele postasse a versão de Does Anyone Believe In Love que foi cantada no show que depois veio a ser chamado de NashBash. Esse show foi alguns meses antes do lançamento do This Way e dele surgiu a versão de Sometimes It Be That Way, se eu não me engano, que entrou no CD. Eu tinha ouvido, na época, que essa versão da DABIL era muito boa e como essa é a minha música predileta dela, eu então pedi. E ele publicou! Agora é só todo mundo ir lá ouvir porque é realmente imperdível!

Alguns de vocês devem se lembrar que em 2002 a Jewel contribuiu seus vocais para a faixa "Spirit" do CD "Easy To Assemble" do DJ inglês Chicane. A faixa vazou na internet porém o CD nunca foi lançado oficialmente. Agora, Chicane está lançando um novo CD e a faixa com a Jewel foi novamente incluída! Um pouco diferente da versão original, mas igualmente boa. Quem gosta de música eletrônica com certeza vai se amarrar! Dá pra ouvir um trechinho aqui.

Como foi divulgado, a Jewel está trabalhando no seu próximo CD de músicas inéditas que deve ser country. A Jewel está trabalhando com o John Rich, um músico que está fazendo muito sucesso nos EUA, produzindo muitos artistas como Faith Hill e Kenny Chesney, além de fazer parte da dupla Big and Rich. O CD ainda não tem previsão de lançamento e não se sabe se sairá antes do Greatest Hits ou depois.

No mais, fiquem atentos no canal Sony, da TV a cabo, porque eles estão passando o clipe de Again and Again na programação, além de que aparece pedaços de clipes da Jewel (principalmente You Were Meant For Me e Intuition) na propaganda Veet/Sony.

Hoje, dia 9, a Jewel vai fazer um show ao vivo em Boston e o press release diz que os fãs vão receber uma prévia do Greatest Hits que está pra vir. Bom, agora é só esperar e torcer para que eles lancem um produto bem legal, com DVDs e b-sides!

Ontem a Jewel fez um mega show de quase 3 horas que foi gravado para exibição na TV. Especula-se que deve sair um DVD disso também, possivelmente associado ao Greatest Hits, que deve ser o próximo lançamento da Jewel.

O show contou com quase 2 horas de músicas solo e depois 1 hora de músicas com um orquestra.

the Invisibles", uma animação que está cotadíssima no mercado!! Estréia nos EUA em Janeiro (estréia limitada em Dezembro) e no Brasil só Deus sabe, mas não deve demorar muito. A música se chama "Quest For Love" e deve ser o primeiro single tirado da trilha sonora! Novos singles

A Jewel está lançando agora no dia 10 de Outubro nos EUA um CD-single contendo 8 remixes da música Only One Too, um lançamento exclusivo para as discotecas e rádios dance, assim como ela lançou Serve The Ego. Não há previsão de um lançamento para as rádios normais nem videoclipe.

No entanto, a Jewel recentemente revelou que vai gravar um videoclipe simples, em Super 8, junto com o diretor do vídeo que ela fez para a música Goodbye Alice In Wonderland, mas agora da música Stephenville, TX, para ser lançado na internet e talvez nas rádios country dos EUA.

Em outras notícias, a Jewel será a apresentadora da 5ª temporada do programa Nashville Star, que busca o novo superstar da música country americana. O programa é uma espécie de American Idol da música country, mas aqui eles são incetivados a tocar um instrumento musical e escrever suas próprias músicas. A temporada com a Jewel apresentando começa no dia 10 de Janeiro, no canal americano CMT.

Essas notícias revelam que a Jewel está se aproximando cada vez mais do universo country e é com essa sonoridade que deve vir o próximo CD dela. Ela já afirmou em diversas entrevistas que possui muitas músicas country e pretende colocá-las no próximo CD. Agora é só esperar!

Com o lançamento do novo CD, diversas entrevistas surgiram na internet e aqui vou fazer uma pequena compilação do que mais interessa:

* A idéia do novo CD, a princípio, era ser lo-fi, ou seja, sem muita produção. Ao ouvirmos, "Again and Again", já sabemos que essa idéia foi posta de lado, pois a música é super produzida. Então, o que aconteceu com a idéia antiga? Bem, a Jewel não encontrou nenhum produtor que pudesse realmente ajudá-la a fazer o CD que ela queria então ela decidiu produzir tudo sozinha. Foi pra Nashville, juntou uma banda liderada por Jim Keltner e gravou as músicas. Segundo ela, o resultado ficou muito bom e ela ficou muito feliz, pois foi muito trabalho, mas bem recompensado pois ficou muito honesto, ela disse. Ela então mostrou as músicas para um amigo e este disse que o CD estava muito bom, mas que achava que podia ficar melhor, e foi ele quem apresentou o Rob Cavallo a ela. O CD então foi todo regravado e agora, lançado. Fica aqui a espectativa de algum dia podermos ouvir o "The Hollywood Hills Sessions," título de trabalho para a 1a versão.

* "Again and Again", o novo single, é como uma sequência à "You Were Meant For Me", uma versão mais adulta da música. Isso fico mesmo claro quando ela canta "like a movie I once saw", referência direta a "I saw a movie, it just wasn't the same".

* Segundo a Jewel, o 2o single deve ser "Good Day".

* Esse é o último CD dela através do seu contrato com a Atlantic. Ela ainda não sabe se vai ficar na Atlantic, se vai pra outra gravadora e se se torna uma artista independente.

* Nos seus projetos futuros estão gravar um CD country, um CD de músicas jazz escritas por ela, e lançar o desenho animado "Punk Rock Angel Girl" que ela tem desenvolvido para a Nickelodeon.

* Ela recentemente compôs e gravou um dueto com Jason Michael Carroll, um novo artista country. A música chama-se "No Good In Goodbye" e estará no CD dele, a ser lançado em breve.

* A partir de 23 de Maio (aniversário dela), a Jewel entra em turnê pelos EUA ao lado do Rob Thomas, vocalista do Matchbox Twenty. Serão dois meses de digressão.

* "Only One Too", música do novo CD, está sendo remixada por diversos DJs para um possível lançamento no futuro. Não se sabe se é um lançamento só para as discotecas (como foi com a "Serve The Ego") ou se será pras rádios também.

* "Fragile Heart", música do 0304 que volta a aparecer no novo CD, pode vir a ser um single. A Jewel afirmou que acredita que essa música é muito importante pra ela e que poderia ser um sucesso nas rádios e foi esse o principal motivo que a fez gravá-la de novo.

* A Jewel também mencionou que a turnê do novo CD deve durar 2 anos. Ainda não se sabe se finalmente ela vem pro Brasil...

Carta da Jewel aos fãs:

So, my record is done! It's written, recorded, mixed and
mastered.

It's been a long journey, but I'm really really excited and
exhausted. I really tried to live up to this record. Making
records is kinda hard for me. Writing is easy. Feelings have
overwhelmed me since I was young, and I spent years getting
fluent at trying to get out of their way, to paint a picture
with nothing in-between the feeling, and hearing those
feelings.

I did this alone. By myself. Just the feeling and me and a
pen. I have always loved words and the craft of writing. It
is a love affair that has outlasted many relationships! I am
sure it will last my whole life. It has been a rewarding and
calming pursuit. Never disappointing. Making records didn't
start till I was 19. It's harder for me, because I had no
grasp of the process. It is rigid and not alive in the way
performing or writing is. It's been hard for me to adapt to,
also, I guess, because I am not in control. I need to rely

on musicians and producers and mixers. They all have to see,
feel, and interpret my vision as clearly as I do.

And that is hard to do. It's rare, especially because I
don't like rehearsing. I don't like to practice. I am
impatient and petulant. I don't even like things to be
perfect, in a technical sense. I just like it to move
you.......

Well, it's been 12 years since I recorded my first CD, and I
feel like I have learned enough to finally affect the
outcome of one! On my first CD I avoided the whole problem
by recording it live. That way nothing could come in between
me and the raw feeling when I sang. I think I was able to do
the same thing on this CD, but with some musicians playing!

This is a singer-songwriter CD. This is a terribly personal
CD. I was cryptic enough that I did not betray what I feel
is personal, but I was able to exorcise the feelings I
needed to. It has been a crazy ass life, and a crazy ass
couple of years. What I can say about it, I said in the
songs. I tried to make this an intensely personal record;
one that is almost embarrassing to listen to. I pulled no
punches. I tried not to repeat myself on any song.

In some ways this is an old-fashioned record. I think u need
to hear all 13 songs to get the whole picture. I hate
records that have 2 or 3 good songs and the rest are low
calorie fillers. I want you to hear the whole CD. Give it a
chance. I spent so much time on these lyrics. So much blood
and guts went into these songs. Even into what order they
are in, so they complement each other. I layered it, so that
hopefully every time you hear it, you get something
different out of it.

I have been in this business for a while now. It's kinda
wild to think about. Sometimes my mind can't even compute
it. I grew up in alaska. A weird upbringing, but a lot of
good to it, too, I guess. I ended up homeless and living in
a car. I used to shoplift so I didn't have to use food
stamps. I used to have doctors turn me down for my kidneys
cause I didn't have insurance. I used to hope beyond hope
and I even believed in people who did not deserve my naive
faith, but somehow it has all turned out ok. I mean, now I
have plenty of money, great doctors, and I get to write
songs for a living! Its all so unbelievable. But it is just
as strange in new ways. Ghosts follow you, and it is still
all on my shoulders. Just how I like it.

I have made a life I really like. I live in Texas. It's not
like Alaska, but it's a big ranch, and has nothing to do
with the music scene. Just like when I was young, music is
just something I love and do. It's not a scene, its not
parties or schmoozing, or being political. Don't get me
wrong, I am gonna do my job to the best of my ability. I am
competitive, and like succeeding. I will promote my CD, and
work hard, and do everything I have to, to try and get
people to hear this music, but on all my off days I am at
the ranch riding and eating at the local diner. I am truly
lucky. In fact, on this record, im gonna try to do a lot of
my press at the ranch here. I'm also gonna go home to alaska
and do some stuff up there, so u guys can see it. I never
really have shown it to anyone, and id like to now. It goes
with the music.

I have been thinking a lot about this CD, about the music
business, about how everything works. I am in the business,
but in a lot of ways I have the freedom to do things my own
way. I care a lot about this record. It means a lot to me,
and I want you guys to get a feel for it. It gets
frustrating that fans only download one song they hear on
the radio. It gets frustrating that radio only plays certain
songs that fit a certain format. I have songs that I think
will do good on radio, but there is one song that sums up
this record and this time in my life, my whole life
really.......And I don't think it really has a shot at radio
cause its 6 minutes long. So, I had a friend shoot me
singing it at the ranch on Super 8, and I'm gonna release it
on this web site tomorrow. I want people to hear and see
things when there is still nothing between me and the
feeling. Soon there will be interviews and singles and the
dance will begin. The circus will wind up and I will dance
for my songs the best I know how, but for now I want to give
you a visual that is as raw as my lyrics. It's the title
track on the record. 'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland'. I think
i said it all in the song, and it is all pretty clear. But I
guess I will answer questions about it if u have some. I
won't do that for the press, most likely, because it never
really works.

I hope you enjoy. The CD won't come out until early May, so
this is my teaser. I may even leak this on the web, so that
more people can see and hear this song before the first
single drops.

"'Goodbye Alice In Wonderland" não é nenhum conto de fadas, no entanto, é um conto muito estranho; é a história da minha vida - desde a extrema solidão do Alaska até a minha primeira viagem a Hollywood. Da minha ascensão à fama até às crises cliches de traições daqueles mais próximos e em quem eu mais confiava.

Esse é o meu álbum mais autobiográfico desde "Pieces Of You", e eu passe muito tempo elaborando a sequencia de músicas, para que cada música sirva de base para a próxima, como um romcance com princípio, meio e fim. No fima da 13ª música, se você tiver escutado com atenção, você terá ouvido a história das músicas que me seduziram, de um caminho que eu tanto segui como liderei, de reviravoltas bizarras que abriram meus olhos, forçando-me a encontrar soluções para que a minha perda de inocência não fosse a perda de esperança, até que, no fim das contas, o caminho virou para si próprio, me levando para mais perto de onde eu comecei; um rancho, dessa vez em Stephenville, Texas, onde eu me encontro longe da floresta mágica. Essa é a música mais pessoal da Jewel, segundo ela própria. É uma música triste, que fala da desilusão que a Jewel teve com a fama. Ela até menciona "estar indo embora". A gente espera que seja só uma metáfora!

Essa música pode vir a ser o 1º single do novo CD, pois a Jewel mencionou que nós devemos estar ouvindo a música nas rádios em breve (bom, isso se "nós" morarmos nos EUA, claro). Good Day foi escrita em tempo Waltz, ao invés do normal 4/4. No waltz dá para colocar mais letra e mais sílabas, segundo a Jewel. A música capta os pensamentos da Jewel em uma noite de insônia, em frente à geladeira. "Ela acompanha um padrão de vida, de cultura pop, de reality TV", ela diz.

Inicialmente intitulada Where You Are, Choose Me é tocada em um dulcimer, instrumento que se toca sentado, apoiando-o ou numa mesa ou nas coxas (veja foto). Seu som é mais delicado que o de um violão e é perfeito para essa doce canção que fala dos desacertos de um casal.

Aqui vai uma geral sobre o novo CD da Jewel.

A Jewel tem escrito músicas novas para esse novo CD desde 2004, tendo como idéia lançar um novo CD no começo de 2005, que seria metade estúdio, metade ao vivo. Por algum motivo, isso não aconteceu e ela partiu para um CD todo de estúdio. A princípio ela produziria todas as músicas, pois não havia encontrado nenhum produtor em quem ela confiasse. O CD iria, então, sair em Setembro de 2005. Aí, a Jewel conheceu o Rob Cavallo, produtor de bandas como Goo Goo Dolls e Green Day, e decidiu regravar todo o CD com ele produzindo, pois ela finalmente havia encontrado alguém que entendesse o que ela queria pro álbum. As músicas não devem receber grandes produções, não haverá batidas (à la 0304), será bem "lo-fi", ou seja, simples.

Agora marcado pra sair em Fevereiro de 2006, o CD promete ser o mais pessoal da Jewel. Com músicas como "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland", na qual ela discute os prós e contras da fama, "Stephenville, TX", uma biografia de sua vida, e "Good Day", onde ela diz que apesar de toda essa nossa cultura pop fútil, vai ser um bom dia. Outras músicas que podem fazer parte desse seleto grupo são as inéditas "Again and Again" e "Satisfied", e as antigas "1000 Miles Away", "Passing Time", "Sometimes It Be That Way" (em nova versão com banda) e "Fragile Heart" (música do 0304, mas em nova versão).

A primeira música a ser lançada deve ser a "Good Day". Se o CD for realmente lançado em Fevereiro, a música deve estar indo pras rádios americanas em Dezembro, logo, por volta dessa data, nós poderemos disponibilizar a música pra todo mundo ouvir.
